Thomas, Martha viennent de vivre une tragédie, la perte de leur enfant. Pour rester unis, survivre à ce drame, ils décident de se ressourcer en revenant dans le village d'enfance de Thomas en Irlande. Mais alors que le couple se reconstruit peu à peu, ils vont accueillir chez eux une petite fille orpheline de 7 ans, très perturbée, presque autiste par un concours de circonstances étranges.
