Richie, étudiant à Princeton, joue au poker en ligne pour payer ses frais de scolarité. Lorsqu'il se retrouve ruiné, persuadé d'avoir été arnaqué, il décide de s'envoler pour le Costa Rica afin de retrouver la trace d'Ivan Block, le créateur du site. Ivan prend Richie sous son aile et l'amène à intégrer son business. Sentant grandir le danger et réalisant les ambitions démesurées de son boss, Richie va tenter de renverser la donne en sa faveur.
Rodrigo, a piano-tuner and former composer fallen on hard times, begins a love affair with the soon-to-be-married Susana. When a bomb in the city of Medellín nearly kills them, Rodrigo and Susana surrender to their attraction and fall into each other’s arms. Cocooned in her apartment above the vibrant city, Susana opens up to him every night and tells him a story of each of the different men from her past. Her stories inspire him to compose again, but his obsession makes him jealous and paranoid. When Susana finally leaves her fiancée to be with Rodrigo, he becomes obsessed with her fidelity.

Now, after a 7-year absence, she returns home for a few weeks in order to reveal a secret long kept from her family and to invite them to her wedding with Daniela. But, once back, her intentions turn to dust when she finds herself trapped in the family's old habit of lying. No one in the family is as they seem, nor are they willing to unveil their true selves. Within this world of half-truths, Teresa encounters Andrés, her nephew, a boy with Asperger's Syndrome who shares her passion for the stars.
